2026 Carabao International Open
Recap
Published April 13, 2026
History was made in Jakarta as Japan’s Naoyuki Oi won the inaugural Carabao International Open, Indonesia’s first-ever World Nineball Tour Gold ranking event. Oi defeated local favorite Irsal Nasution 13-3 at the Nusantara International Convention Exhibition.
Oi opened the final with a break-and-run and built an 11-0 lead before Nasution scored his first racks. Oi recorded eight break-and-runs throughout the match, limiting Nasution’s opportunities at the table.
Nasution, a seasoned competitor who previously reached the 2010 World Series of Pool final and regularly competed in the All Japan Championship, won three consecutive racks following an Oi scratch and miss. The home crowd responded to the run, but it ended when Nasution missed a 5-7 carom attempt in the 15th rack, giving Oi the chance to extend his lead to 12-3.
Oi sealed the championship with a break ace in the final rack. The victory earned him the $20,000 winner’s purse and marked his second WNT ranking title, following his Helsinki Open triumph in 2024.
The tournament represents a significant milestone for Indonesian pool, establishing Jakarta as a stop on the global 9-ball circuit. Oi’s victory propelled him into the world’s top 20 rankings. Nasution’s run to the final demonstrated the growing strength of Southeast Asian pool talent on the international stage.
