Carlo "Black Tiger" Biado won his second WPA World 9-Ball Championship with a 15-13 victory over defending champion Fedor Gorst in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Filipino player became the first-ever Filipino to win the World Nine-ball Championship twice, adding to his 2017 title.
The final saw multiple lead changes throughout. Gorst won the first two racks, then Biado won nine consecutive racks to reach a 9-3 lead. Gorst narrowed the gap, tying the match at 13-13 before Biado won the final two racks to secure victory.
The match awarded $250,000 to the champion as part of a larger tournament that featured 128 players competing for a total prize pool of $1,000,000. The event was sanctioned by the WPA and produced by Matchroom Sport in partnership with the Saudi Arabian Billiard & Snooker Federation.
At age 42, Biado has achieved significant recent success. He won the 2024 World Ten-ball Championship and was elected to the Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame, becoming the sixth Philippines-born player to receive this honor. This achievement came after a career path that differed from peers like Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante, as he took longer to reach international success.
