Joshua Filler won the 2025 European Open Pool Championship at Hotel Hills Sarajevo, defeating Naoyuki Oi 13-1 in the final. The German player, known as The Killer, controlled the match from early on and won decisively.

Oi won the opening rack but scratched on a jump shot attempt in the second frame, giving Filler control. The 28-year-old German extended his lead throughout the match. When Oi had opportunities, mistakes allowed Filler to regain the advantage and build further.

In the sixth rack, Oi escaped one of Filler's defensive positions and potted the 3-ball to regain control, but then missed a cut on the 6-ball, handing the frame back to Filler and extending the lead to 5-1. Oi continued to struggle maintaining momentum against Filler's consistent play.

The match was part of the 2025 Matchroom Major series, featuring a 256-player field competing for a $200,000 prize fund. In the seventh rack, Filler committed a foul after accidentally hooking himself, but capitalized when Oi missed a 7-ball, executing a 7-9 carom to extend his advantage. Filler has previously won World Championships in nine-ball (2018) and eight-ball (2024), plus multiple Mosconi Cup MVP honors. He claimed the $40,000 winner's prize with the 13-1 victory.

Oi's second-place finish represents a significant achievement in reaching the final of this prestigious event, despite the decisive scoreline.
