Joshua Filler won his third WPA China Open 9-Ball Championship title, defeating Japan’s Hayato Hijikata. The German player, known as The Killer, has held the WPA world number one ranking since 2019.

Filler previously won the China Open in 2017 at age 20 and in 2023, when he defeated Anton Raga 11-5. At 27 years old, Filler now holds three China Open championships.

The China Open is one of professional pool’s most prestigious championships, featuring substantial prize funds and attracting elite players from around the world. After a four-year break, the tournament returned in 2023 and has continued to draw top-level competition.

Filler’s path to this title included competitive matches. In 2023, he defeated Maximillian Lechner 11-10. His other major titles include the World Nine-ball Championship in 2018 and the World Eight-ball Championship in 2024.

Hijikata’s appearance in the final represents a notable achievement for the Japanese player and demonstrates the strength of Asian talent in professional pool.

Filler’s accomplishments include multiple world championships, three Mosconi Cup MVP awards (2017, 2022, 2023), and three China Open titles.
