Ko Ping-chung won the 46th US Open Pool Championship at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City with a 13-6 victory over Russian Fedor Gorst. The Taiwanese player’s path to the title included 16 consecutive racks spanning the final four racks of his quarterfinal against Max Lechner, an 11-0 shutout of Aloysius Yapp in the semifinals, and the opening rack of the final.

Gorst, known as The Ghost, remained competitive despite Ko’s momentum. The young Russian played strong defense through the first 12 racks and built a 5-2 lead with effective safety play.

Ko made a five-rail shot on the 3-ball that helped him gain control of the match. Ko took advantage of Gorst’s mistakes to recover from a three-rack deficit and tie the match at 6-6.

From 6-all, Ko ran off seven consecutive racks to reach a 10-6 lead. The 28-year-old former World Ten-ball champion closed out the match to claim his first US Open title and the $50,000 winner’s prize from the $300,000 total purse.

This victory adds the US Open title to Ko’s resume, which includes World Ten-ball Championships in 2019 and 2025. Gorst finished as runner-up in the tournament. Ko’s triumph earned him the traditional green blazer and free entry to all future US Opens as part of this 256-player event.
