Jayson Shaw won the inaugural Hanoi Open Pool Championship, defeating Austria’s Albin Ouschan in the final at the Hanoi Indoor Games Gymnasium. The match went to hill-hill, with Shaw claiming his first Matchroom major title and $30,000 in prize money.
Shaw came from behind multiple times during the final. He trailed 4-0 early in the match and later fell behind 10-5 before mounting a comeback to win. Gorst rallied to reach 9-8 but missed a crucial seven ball on his opportunity, allowing Shaw to advance to his first Matchroom major final since winning the 2017 US Open.
