Shane Van Boening won the Big Foot 10-Ball Challenge at the 2023 Derby City Classic at Caesars Southern Indiana. The South Dakota native defeated the field on the Big Foot tables, which feature 4โ ” pocket openings.
The Big Foot Challenge used a race-to-11 format with alternate breaks and no jump cues allowed on 9-foot Diamond tables. Van Boening defeated Roberto Gomez 11-3 in the semifinal, posting a .933 True Percentage Average (TPA). Van Boening won by securing cue ball control and preventing Gomez from running his own innings.
In the final, Van Boening faced Poland’s Konrad Juszczyszyn. Van Boening won the championship match. The Big Foot format’s tight pockets and demanding specifications require precision accuracy, which Van Boening demonstrated throughout the tournament.
