The 2020 Derby City Classic saw Scotland’s Jayson Shaw win his third Diamond Bigfoot Challenge title. Shaw defeated Lee Vann Corteza 11-5 in the final, earning a $16,000 winner’s check.
Shaw competed against top international players in the Bigfoot Challenge, which was contested under a race-to-11 format with alternate breaks. The event was held over eight days at the Caesars Southern Indiana casino in Elizabeth, Indiana.
The tournament included several notable moments. In the semifinals, Filipino legend Alex Pagulayan, a newly inducted BCA Hall of Famer, borrowed spectacles from a spectator to inspect his tip. Corteza faced early struggles in his tournament run before reaching the final.
While Shaw won the Bigfoot Challenge, Corteza captured the 9-Ball Division title, also worth $16,000, by defeating German rising star Joshua Filler in that final. The Derby City Classic featured over $100,000 in added money and attracted top players from around the world.
Shaw’s third Bigfoot title marked another major victory at an American pool tournament. The player from Glasgow, Scotland faced international competition throughout the event.
