Joshua Filler won the US Open at the Mandalay Bay Resort in April 2019. The 21-year-old German player defeated Taiwan's Wu Jia-qing 13-10 in the final to claim the title.

The tournament featured 256 players competing in double elimination before 16 remained for single elimination play in the Diamond Arena. Filler defeated defending champion Jayson Shaw in the Round of 16. Filler had previously won the Mosconi Cup MVP award and the World Championship.

Wu Jia-qing won the lag and led 3-0 early in the final. Filler won five consecutive racks to take control of the match. In the final rack, Wu committed a foul that gave Filler the title and the $50,000 winner's prize from the $300,000 total purse.

At 21 years old, Filler had now won both the World Championship and US Open, two of pool's most prestigious titles. The tournament marked Matchroom's debut as promoter of the US Open, with crowds of 700 fans attending and the event broadcast to over 100 countries.

Filler's performance against the world's top competitors established him as a leading player in professional 9-ball.
