Team USA won the 2018 Mosconi Cup at Alexandra Palace with an 11-9 victory over Europe, ending an eight-year European winning streak. The 2018 Mosconi Cup generated record viewership across more than 130 countries. The tournament's Facebook partnership delivered a free live stream to over 2 million viewers across the Americas and Indian subcontinent. The event achieved the highest live gate attendance in tournament history. Following the success, Matchroom announced a 50% increase in both winners' and runners-up prize money for the following year.
The victory ended an eight-year losing streak for American pool. Team USA's win at Alexandra Palace showed that American players could compete at the highest international level.
