The 2017 Derby City Classic took place at Horseshoe Southern Indiana from January 20-28. Jayson Shaw won the Bigfoot 10-Ball Challenge, defeating Greece's Alexander Kazakis in the final to claim the $16,000 winner's prize.

Shaw competed in a field that included semi-finalists Lee Vann Corteza and Carlo Biado. Shaw finished 17th in the nine-ball division that same week, while achieving stronger results in the 10-ball competition.

Shaw went on to have a successful 2017 season, earning over $170,000 in tournament winnings. He finished third at the China Billiard World Championship ($21,779), won the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship ($40,000), and captured multiple other major titles throughout the year.

Dennis Orcollo won the nine-ball division, defeating Shane Van Boening 9-3 in the final. Orcollo also claimed the Master of the Table award. Francisco Bustamante won the bank pool competition, with the Filipino contingent securing multiple top finishes at the event.

Shaw advanced through multiple rounds of competition in the 10-Ball Challenge to reach the final. Kazakis also progressed through the tournament brackets to earn his place in the championship match.
