The 2014 Mosconi Cup at Blackpool’s Tower Circus saw Team Europe defeat the United States 11-5, marking their second-best winning margin in the tournament’s history. The match took place before a large crowd at the iconic venue.

Captain Johan Ruijsink led Europe to victory in his seventh and final Mosconi Cup as captain. Europe built a 9-5 lead heading into the final session, needing two more points to secure victory.

In the decisive matches, Darren Appleton and Nikos Ekonomopoulos each defeated American player Shane Van Boening 5-2 in the final session.

Netherlands’ Niels Feijen was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. The European roster included Mark Gray from the UK and Nikos Ekonomopoulos from Greece.

The United States team, led by non-playing captain Mark Wilson, included Corey Deuel, John Schmidt, Justin Hall, and Van Boening. Europe won the match with solid play throughout the competition.

The 2014 edition was held at a premier venue for pool’s top team competition. Europe’s 11-5 victory came in Ruijsink’s final appearance as captain.
