The 20th edition of the Mosconi Cup took place at The Mirage in Las Vegas from December 2-4, 2013, with Team Europe defeating Team USA 11-2. The final score was one of the most lopsided results in the tournament’s history.
On the opening day, Darren Appleton and Karl Boyes defeated Rodney Morris and Earl Strickland 6-3 in the opening doubles match. Mika Immonen won 6-5 over Shane Van Boening in singles action, and Niels Feijen and Ralf Souquet defeated the American pairing of Johnny Archer and Dennis Hatch 6-2 in doubles. After day one, Europe led 6-3.
The tournament used race-to-5 nine-ball matches with alternate breaks. Niels Feijen earned the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award. Team Europe maintained its lead throughout the three-day event, while Team USA was unable to recover from the opening deficit.
For Team USA, captained by Johnny Archer, the tournament resulted in a loss by a significant margin. The American squad included Shane Van Boening, Rodney Morris, and Earl Strickland. Europe won the final match 11-2.
Team Europe, captained by Johan Ruijsink, won matches across all three days of competition with contributions from multiple team members. This victory extended Europe’s recent dominance in the tournament.
