Kim Ga-young won the 2012 WPA Women’s World 10-Ball Championship, earning redemption after finishing as runner-up two years earlier. The South Korean professional, known as the Little Devil Girl on tour, bounced back from her 2010 loss to Austria’s Jasmin Ouschan to claim her first world title in the discipline.

In the final, Kim faced China’s Chen Siming and won 10-5. Chen was competing in her first major international final.

The WPA Women’s World 10-Ball Championship began in 2009 and had established itself as a major event in professional pool by 2012. Earlier champions included Philippines’ Rubilen Amit (2009), Austria’s Jasmin Ouschan (2010), and England’s Kelly Fisher (2011). Kim’s 2012 victory placed her among the tournament’s early titlists.

Kim was born in Seoul in 1983 and began playing three-cushion billiards under her father’s guidance before transitioning to pool. By 2012, she was practicing 30 hours per week. Her victory highlighted the growing strength of Asian women’s pool, with players from the region increasingly competing against European and American players.

The 2012 championship proved to be a significant moment in the tournament’s early era. Rubilen Amit won again in 2013, after which the event went on hiatus for nine years before being revived in 2022 as part of the Pro Billiard Series. Kim’s 2012 title marked a comeback after her previous runner-up finish.
