Francisco Django Bustamante won the 2010 WPA World Nine-ball Championship in Doha, Qatar at age 46. The Filipino player defeated Taiwan’s Kuo Po-cheng in the final to earn his first world title and a $36,000 prize.

The championship ran from June 29 through July 5 and featured 128 players competing in a double-elimination format. Players were divided into 16 groups of eight, with all matches contested as races to nine racks. Two wins advanced players to the knockout rounds, while two losses resulted in elimination.

Bustamante held over 100 international titles prior to the championship. His nickname Django references the 1966 film character. He competed throughout the week-long event as a top-ranked professional player.

The final matched Bustamante against 32-year-old Kuo Po-cheng, who was competing in his first world championship final. Bustamante won the match to add a world title to his résumé.

Rounding out the top finishers were Antonio Lining and American player Johnny Archer, who tied for third place and each earned $10,000. Ronnie Alcano, Oliver Medinilla, Francisco Felicilda, and Sandor Tot shared fifth-place honors. The championship featured a total prize fund of $234,000.
