Published April 13, 2026

The 12th edition of the Mosconi Cup took place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas from December 15-18, 2005, with Team USA defeating Team Europe 11-6.

Team USA was captained by Georgia's Johnny Archer and included Earl Strickland, Rodney Morris, Shawn Putnam, Jeremy Jones, and Charlie Williams. The 2005 edition introduced a shot clock for the first time in Mosconi Cup history. Earl Strickland earned MVP honors for his performance throughout the competition.

Team Europe was captained by Finland's Mika Immonen and featured Marcus Chamat, Raj Hundal, Thorsten Hohmann, Niels Feijen, and Alex Lely. In the opening session, Hohmann and Feijen won their doubles match against Archer and Jones 5-1. Team USA built momentum as the tournament progressed.

The tournament consisted of both singles and doubles matches. Team USA's roster had strong depth across multiple positions, and playing in Las Vegas provided the American team a home-court advantage.

Team USA's 11-6 victory allowed them to retain the Mosconi Cup. The following year's tournament in Rotterdam ended in a 12-12 tie, with the Americans keeping the cup as defending champions.
