In February 1944, Willie Mosconi won his third World Straight Pool Championship, defeating Andrew Ponzi in Kansas City, Missouri. The championship was contested in a 10-block format of 125 points each, with Mosconi winning 1,250 to 924 points—a 326-point margin.
